Whew! That was close

Highly favored with Mother Nature or just plain luck?

Tropical Storm Chantal's thunderstorm woke me at about 1:29am and I really couldn't go back to sleep after that.  I knew that the storm was coming, but I just wanted it to be over quickly - as if I had a choice in how Mother Nature decided the course of her actions.  Normally, this would not bother me so much, but I knew that the Yard Sale would go on as scheduled and yet again, I really had no choice.

Two hours later - still raining, but by 4am, it was all over.  Whew! That was close.  A day without rain meant a few things - a chance to better display the items for sale, a chance for shoppers to spend some time looking for better deals and the most important; the opportunity of a higher profit for my client.

Almost set up by 5:35am, and the shoppers were actually starting to come - it was still dark. They had wanted to get a really early start since they were also concerned about the rain (but there were a few problems there; I could hardly see and neither could they) and for a few short minutes once we got started, there were a few small drizzles, but that was it for the entire day.  It ended up being a bright and sunny day.

We made total use of all of the front yard space.

Kids Toys and Shoes were the first to go.

The setup was very effective through the use of five tables which made it easy for customers to browse without bumping into each other.  This is what we wanted - longer browsing time and better finds.

Making use of all of the yard space

The final result - a lot of happy customers and one happy client.

Customers looking for great deals

Until next time ...
